Two Ingredients, One Cleaner Fuel

Bioheat® fuel is a blend of two components:
Ultra-Low Sulfur Heating Oil
A cleaner-burning refinement of conventional heating oil.
Renewable Liquid Fuel
A renewable fuel produced from sources like plant oils, animal fats, and recycled cooking grease.

The ratio of those two components determines the blend level. A B20 blend, for example, contains 20% renewable liquid fuel. The higher the blend, the greater the emissions impact. At this time, New York has a B10 blend level, Connecticut, B10, Rhode Island, B20.

What Defines a Renewable Liquid Fuel

Unlike petroleum, which is extracted and refined from fossil sources, renewable liquid fuel comes from feedstocks that are continuously replenished. The biological sources used to produce it absorb carbon as they grow, which gives biodiesel a significantly lower carbon intensity than the petroleum it replaces in the blend.

That difference shows up in real, measurable emissions reductions on every delivery.
