The Road to Carbon Neutral with Bioheat® Fuel & Biodiesel

The heating fuel industry has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas and carbon emissions and will be using Bioheat® fuels and renewable biodiesel to get there. The pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 is already rolling. Bioheat® fuel and biodiesel are being used to heat homes and businesses and power commercial equipment while producing significantly fewer emissions.

Wondering how net-zero emissions can be achieved? Here’s the timeline:

The Timeline to Reach Net-Zero Carbon Emissions with Bioheat® Fuel & Biodiesel

  • Today
Bioheat® fuel and biodiesel are ready and available to consumers now. Bioheat® fuel blends can range from 2% biodiesel (B2 Bioheat® Fuel) up to 20% biodiesel (B20 Bioheat® Plus). Some states have mandates that require a certain minimum blend of renewable biodiesel, and in states without mandates many fuel providers have chosen to start delivering Bioheat® fuel on their own.
  • 2030
The biofuels industry is hard at work to increase Bioheat® fuel blends to 50% biodiesel (B50) by 2030. B50 Bioheat® fuel is the next big step to achieve carbon neutrality. B50 Bioheat® fuel will be even better for the environment, help heating systems run even more efficiently, and continue to help reduce carbon footprints across the country.
  • 2050
In 2050 Bioheat® oil will be B100 Bioheat® fuel, which will be composed of 100% renewable biofuel. This major milestone will provide consumers with a truly renewable and net-zero carbon liquid heating fuel.
