Bioheat® fuel is a healthy and safe renewable energy resource made domestically from fatty acids found in soy and other vegetable oils, recycled restaurant oils, and other natural sources. Not only is its production astonishingly energy efficient, but the fuel itself is nontoxic, biodegradable, and promotes better air quality and environmental sustainability by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It also provides a cleaner, more complete and energy efficient burn. Translated to a typical oil-burning household, using 800 gallons of Bioheat® fuel blended with ultra low sulfur heating oil per year could conserve 16 gallons of oil annually and the emissions that go along with it. Breathe easier and reduce your carbon footprint with Bioheat®.
The biodiesel industry is supporting more than 62,000 U.S. jobs, generating billions of dollars in GDP, household income, and tax revenues. The industry’s economic impact is poised to grow significantly with continued production increases. The biodiesel industry supports jobs in a variety of sectors, from manufacturing to transportation, agriculture and service. For livestock feeders, Bioheat® helps bring the price of soybean meal down by increasing demand for the by-product soybean oil. For restaurant owners, used cooking oil—once a waste product—can now be sold to biodiesel producers as an additional source of revenue. Bioheat® fuel helps meet our nation’s energy and food needs without using new land or drilling for—or importing—dwindling supplies of fossil fuels. For consumers, Bioheat® fuel blended into ultra-low-sulfur heating oil helps extend the life of your heating equipment and reduces oil consumption, ultimately saving money.
Bioheat® fuel is brought to your home by the same family-owned, full-service heating oil companies that have delivered traditional heating oil to you and your neighbors for decades. In response to growing demand for clean, renewable fuel sources, these long-trusted companies are evolving to offer a cleaner, more efficient 21st-century heating product that can be used in your existing heating system without modification up to 20 percent – with higher blend ratios on the horizon. In fact, cleaner burning Bioheat® fuel is better for your heating equipment as it may extend equipment life while reducing maintenance and service calls. Remember, your local dealer’s service technicians are available around the clock to keep you and your family safe and warm. For more information, call your local Bioheat® dealer today.
In order for a fuel to be called Bioheat® Fuel, it can only be made with ASTM D6751 grade biodiesel. ASTM international is a group that sets technical standards for the global industry; D6751 is the specification for 100% biodiesel fuel (B100). Biodiesel is the only renewable diesel fuel with approved ASTM specifications, which helps ensure that the fuel will provide trouble-free usage along with the benefits that have been demonstrated by more than $100 million in research and development over the past two decades.
Bioheat® fuel has been thoroughly tested by the most prominent fuel research organizations in the world. Independent studies by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Southwest Research Institute, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and the US Department of Agriculture have shown that ASTM grade biodiesel can blend seamlessly in heating oil with even greater benefits to performance, human health, energy security, and global climate change. Bioheat® fuel has been endorsed by, among others, the Oilheat Manufacturers Association, the National Oilheat Research Alliance, and the New York Oil Heating Association, a strong proponent of New York City’s current mandate that all oil-heated homes and buildings in the city use Bioheat® fuel. On local, national, and global levels, commitment to renewable energy standards and increasing demand for cleaner fuel alternatives leaves little doubt that the transition to renewable fuels is not a market trend but a worldwide movement gaining traction by the day. That’s why biodiesel has emerged as one of the fastest growing alternative fuels in the nation. With Bioheat® fuel, the future of oilheat is here.
